PJ Remix is now free to all PDF Print E-mail

The best album design software is now free to all

The Directors of Queensberry and Photojunction are delighted to announce a major change of direction for Photojunction.

Effective immediately PJ Remix is a free download for photographers everywhere.

The “price” will be to register with Queensberry and allow us to send you a monthly message.

Click here to download the free software now.

  • Photojunction will continue to enable third-party album resources as well as the “DIY” functionality that allows users to design un-matted layouts sized for any vendor.

  • Software support and training will be available free via the Photojunction website, support forum and blog. One-on-one support, including by email, will be on a paid basis (US$ 99.00 for twelve months).

  • Existing subscriptions will continue on exactly the same basis as now until they expire, including one-on-one support.

  • Subject to a more relaxed minimum purchase requirement, Queensberry customers will qualify for free one-on-one support. As in the past, purchase of a Starter Kit will be required to become a Queensberry album client.

This marks a new beginning for PJ Remix, but the end for our long-standing "supplier-independent" business model, which has been stifling the software. Instead, Photojunction will in effect be progressively integrated with Queensberry as a sub brand.

As part of the Queensberry group, Photojunction will have three goals going forward:

  • To build a great in-house development and support team.

  • To maintain our standing as the most powerful album design software available, and build an active user community around the free software.

  • To develop a dedicated, intuitive, hassle-free workflow for all Queensberry clients.

Details

  1. PJ Remix will be free to all new subscribers and re-subscribers who supply their email address and opt in to Photojunction’s mailing list. Software support and training will be offered free on the Photojunction website, support forum, blogs etc, but one-on-one support, including email, will be on a paid basis (US$ 99.00 for twelve months).

  2. Existing subscribers: Your subscription will continue on exactly the same basis as now. We know that to have paid for something that is later offered cheap or free isn’t a great feeling and we very much appreciate your commitment. We will of course provide support to you at no charge until the end of your subscription. We have undertaken not to share our existing Photojunction mailing list with Queensberry and will not do so.

  3. In the past Queensberry has been able to offer Photojunction free only to regular clients. Now all Queensberry’s customers will be able to use the software free, although there will continue to be a (more relaxed) minimum requirement to qualify for free support. As in the past, purchase of a Starter Kit will be required to become a Queensberry album client.

  4. We will continue to distribute album supplier resources so as to not disadvantage clients using the software. We will also continue to offer the “Remix DIY” functionality that allows users to design un-matted layouts sized for any vendor.

  5. Over the next three months the Queensberry and Photojunction sites will be integrated and Photojunction will be treated as a sub-brand of Queensberry.

  6. Photojunction Retro (the old version of the software) will be hidden on the Photojunction site some time over the next week. For a limited time a download link will be available to existing Retro users. Retro will become end of life on July 1 2009. That means it will not be available for download and will no longer be supported from that date. There will by that time be a facility to import Photojunction Retro orders into the latest Photojunction version.

  7. We appreciate the support we have had from other album vendors, who will need to decide whether to continue to support Photojunction as an album-planning tool and keep their resources “official” and up to date. If they choose not to be involved we propose to distribute basic “unofficial” resources for you to use as part of our DIY functionality. These would not include details like cover materials or cover styles and would state clearly that they are not endorsed by the supplier and that you use them at your own risk. In everyone’s interest we hope you will encourage your preferred supplier to maintain “official” resources you can rely on.
