Rather than your original high-res files, what you see (and work with) in the Event Window, Album Planning Window etc are small proxy images created automatically by Photojunction. You can organise and view your images in Group, Collection and Folder views.
Proxies Proxies need to remain exact copies of your original high-res files. Otherwise your Products and Exports will not be what you expect. For that reason Photojunction checks to ensure that your high-res images are still as they were when you imported them. See Monitoring Your High-Res Files for more about this. You can choose the size of the proxies in pixels in the Preferences Images pane. Don’t make them unnecessarily large or you may slow your computer. 800x600 gives best performance, 1024x768 will be adequate for most purposes, even projection. thumbnails and previews Photojunction lets you see the proxies as Thumbnails and Previews. Thumbnails appear on the right of the screen; selected thumbnails appear as Previews on the left. You can make thumbnails larger or smaller using the slider at the top right of the screen, and show more of them on screen by either hiding, or allocating less size to, the Preview panel. Image Groups, Collections and Folders
You can organise and view the Thumbnails by Group, by Collection or by Folder (their location on your computer). You can also double-click on selected images in any view to display them full-screen (click here for more). Image GroupsGroups are simply a way to split lots of images into more manageable chunks. Images can only be in one Group at a time. Photojunction has two compulsory Groups: Unsorted and Rejects, but you can add more by clicking the “+” icon. You can also set up default Groups in Preferences. When first imported, all images appear in the Unsorted Group, from which you can move them to other Groups (see Sorting Images, below). You may not consider sorting into Groups worth the effort if your Event only includes a few images, or if you have already sorted your images in another program (if so, see Image Folders, below). By the way notice also the Auto Link Folder. You can specify a folder in Preferences that will be linked by default with all your Events – a handy place to keep your studio logo and other regularly used images. Click here for more about managing your images with Groups, Collections and Folders. Image CollectionsImages can only be in one Group, but they can be in as many Collections as you like. That’s because Collections are designed to hold images for different purposes, such as: If everyone likes it, therefore, the same image could be in all the above Collections. Photojunction shows you three Collections by default: The Group “All”: This special Collection lets you instantly see all of the images in an Event, no matter what Group they’re in or what folder they came from. The Group “Favourites”: speaks for itself. The Group “Maybes”: a holding space while you're "building collections", or for the images your clients aren’t sure about.
Image FoldersThis view shows whereabouts on your hard disk (or network) the images are located. What you see in the Navigation panel is the immediate parent folder. Mouse over the folder name and you’ll see the complete path. If you’ve already sorted your images into folders with other software, focusing on the Image Folder view rather than Image Groups will let you take advantage of the work you’ve already done. |
