Templates PDF Print E-mail

Photojunction generates templates of all your layouts automatically when you save an album. These include any special effects (such as borders, opacity, sepia) that you applied in the original design.

If at some future time you re-save an album, the templates created from the album will be modified, or re-created if you've deleted them in the meantime.

CAUTION - SOME FUNCTIONS ON THIS PAGE (INDICATED WITH THREE STARS ***) ARE STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

*** You'll find Photojunction's auto-generated templates under "Template Albums" in the Navigation panel. They'll be listed under the name of the parent album. If you like, you can also add them to any "Template Collection" that you've created.

You can delete auto-generated templates by clicking the Delete button at the top of the window. You can also delete the entire album by clicking the “–” icon next to the template name.

*** If you wish, you can at any time "Save As Template" any layout directly into any of the Collections you set up.

To use templates

Simply drag (or shift-drag) the template you want from the Event window to the Layout window. The template will be recreated on the current layout with empty apertures, into which you can drag and drop images.

Any apertures already on the layout will be deleted, after a warning.

There's a big difference between "dragging" and "shift-dragging"!

All templates are the same, but big differences arise depending on whether you drag or shift-drag them on to the  current layout.

"Dragging" templates

If you drag a template WITHOUT the shift key, what you drag is a "layout template". If the album format is different than the original, Photojunction will display the template as large as possible on the new layout.

THAT MEANS THE APERTURE SIZE, AND THE SPACE BETWEEN APERTURES, MAY VARY SIGNIFICANTLY FROM THE ORIGINAL.  HOWEVER THE ASPECT RATIO WILL STAY THE SAME.

Click on the image above to open it and you'll see what we mean.

You can drag the bottom right-hand corner of the template so that it fills the entire layout . Of course this will change the aspect ratio, as well as further changing the aperture size and spacing.

"Shift-dragging" templates

If you SHIFT-DRAG a template, what you drag is an "aperture group template". What this action does is add the apertures from the original template as a Group in the top left-hand corner of the layout. The size and spacing of all apertures will remain exactly as in the original, but the distance to the page edge will be ignored.

The great thing about shift-dragging aperture groups on to layouts is you don't need to rearrange or re-align them. However there is no difference between template aperture groups and any others. You can align them, ungroup them and edit them if you decide you need to.

  4. When prompted by the exporter, choose the previously mentioned TemplateCast.cst as the input file.

  5. Create a new folder on your desktop and choose it as the "output" folder.

  6. Click the  export button to re-ceate your Retro templates as individual Remix template files in this folder.

  7. After exporting is complete, go back to the  Remix Import PJ Retro Templates window. Click the Browse button and select the folder you've just output your Retro templates to.
