How to design a Queensberry album in SmartAlbums and upload the layouts

Pixellu SmartAlbums includes Queensberry print-company presets and lets you design a Queensberry Flushmount album, export the finished layouts and upload them to Workspace for ordering.

SmartAlbums does not replace the Queensberry order. Workspace is where you confirm the album specifications, upload the layouts and complete the order.

This workflow is for Flushmount albums. Matted albums cannot be submitted as finished third-party layouts. For a matted album, use the Workspace Album Designer or Queensberry Design Service.

Confirm the album specifications before designing

Before you begin, decide which Queensberry album range, size, orientation, page or layout type, printing method and number of layouts you intend to order. These specifications determine the required file dimensions and whether you need single-sided pages or double-page spreads.

You can create the matching Workspace order before or after designing. Whichever order you choose, make sure the product selections in Workspace match the Queensberry preset and design you used in SmartAlbums.

Choose the matching Queensberry preset in SmartAlbums

  1. Create a new album project in SmartAlbums.
  2. Select Queensberry as the album company.
  3. Choose the product and size that match the Queensberry album you intend to order.
  4. Check the page or spread arrangement before adding images.

If you cannot find the expected Queensberry option, update SmartAlbums and confirm that the selected product is supported before designing. Do not substitute a similarly named size from another album company.

Design with the finished album in mind

  • Keep faces, text and important details safely away from trim edges and the centre fold.
  • Review any resolution warnings rather than assuming an image will reproduce well.
  • Check the first and last layouts carefully, including any blank sides required by the selected album structure.
  • Make sure the number of exported files will match the number Workspace requests.

Export the print files

When the design is complete, choose Export → Export for Print in SmartAlbums.

  • For a print-ready order, export high-quality JPG files.
  • If you are requesting Queensberry colour correction, export editable, unflattened PSD layouts. Do not submit flattened JPGs for that service.
  • Use 300 DPI and an embedded RGB profile. Queensberry recommends Adobe RGB (1998); sRGB is also accepted for supported printing methods.
  • Export as single pages or double-page spreads according to the page type and printing method selected in Workspace.

Open the exported files themselves and inspect every layout. Check dimensions, sequence, colour, crops, text, image quality and the centre fold before uploading.

Upload the layouts to Workspace

  1. In Workspace, open Albums. If you have not already created the album, create it now and choose Third Party Software as the design method.
  2. Make sure the album specifications match the design, then continue to Upload Layout Files.
  3. Upload the exported JPG or PSD files. You can upload the files individually or as a group.
  4. Allow the upload and processing to finish before leaving the page.
  5. Confirm that the files appear in the correct order and that the number of layouts matches the album setup.
  6. Review the album details and files before continuing to confirm and submit the order.

Workspace can check whether the expected number of files has been supplied, but it cannot confirm every design specification before Queensberry receives the order. You remain responsible for checking dimensions, resolution, colour profile, file type, sequence and safe placement.
